A very well prepared and facilitated kayak trip to the beautiful hidden blue cave at Mikros Gailos, from PERIPLOUS EXPERIENCE in Lefkada.

Stunning clear blue waters and breathtaking scenery were accompanied by interesting scientific knowledge of the area, tapered with much good humour. There was no sense of rushing, allowing as much time to explore the caves and bays as we wished.

Yannis is one of the nicest guys you’ll meet and he lives for… read more his passion, kayaking. The experience he has shines through in all the little and big advice he has on offer during the experience. He gave us a refresher on the do’s and don’ts, explained the winds in the area, recommended which islands and beaches to visit and even helped us steer through a particularly stormy day.

I’d also like to add that kayaking is a great way to explore the environment. You can stop nearly everywhere and pitch up your tents and that just allows you to explore the little nooks and crannies like you wouldn’t be able to if you were to simply rent a boat. Never mind the sense of freedom you get or the change of perspective paddling in the water gets you. (Bring snorkeling gear!)

All in all, we had a wonderful time and I would heartily recommend it to anyone fit enough to hold a paddle 🙂 If I had but one complaint to give: bring your own mats to sleep on if you do a multi-day tour – these are rocky beaches and the added padding will be sorely missed if you don’t have it.

Giannis is an amazing guide, a professional kayaker and full of amazing stories. He tells you about the geology,’the geography, the history and the sea life.
The Blue cave with its bat population is stunning. We saw plenty of starfish and other sea life. The tiny magical beaches simply take your breath away. Giannis was absolutely fantastic and we left with a feeling that we have met a new friend.

We… read more went to the Blue Cave and to the 2 wonderful wild beaches. Selma was the best tour guide, with great energy and historical knowledge about Greece and not only! She is a wonderful person and I am really grateful to have met her. During the trip, we crossed our paths with the kayak group led by Yiannis, and while having lunch, Yiannis told us a summary of Iliad and Odyssey Greek poems, which, apparently happened in the land of Lefkada as well. The atmosphere was very enjoyable, full of humor and very relaxing. If you are in Lefkada, please make sure you choose Periplous Experience to make your vacation truly unforgettable!

  We had a brilliant family day out sea kayaking with Perilous. Yiannis was our guide and he was brilliant. It is obvious how experienced he is and how much he… read more enjoys what he does but always keeping everyone safe whilst having lots of fun. It was a new experience for our kids (age 16, 14 and 11) and they loved it. We swam in the blue caves and visited tiny beaches only accessible from the sea. Yiannis told us interesting things about the coast line and islands and helped us find red star fish and yellow coral. He made us a yummy light lunch too (and my youngest even ate the onions in the pasta because Yiannis served it!). Thank you for a great day out, the best thing we did on Lefkada and happy memories for all of us.
